I was born and raised in Cupertino, California. What a great place it was growing up with orchards and open space everywhere. A perfect place for kids to run around and parents to stretch out. Of course, the Bay Area has changed profoundly since then. Some would say for the better, some for the worse.

My wife Sandy and I set a goal to join our families in Placer County so our oldest daughter would begin kindergarten here. Sandy's family has been in the Colfax area since the 1920's and my parents moved to the Sierra foothills about 20 years ago.

Well here we are. We live in Weimar, between Auburn and Colfax along the I80 corridor. Excellent schools, amidst the pines and oaks, above the fog, usually below the snow. The Bear and American rivers are minutes away. Tahoe and Reno in less than 90 minutes, skiing in less than 45 minutes, along with the many other reasons everyone is flocking east from the Bay Area to play in the Sierras. The Roseville/Rocklin area has become a mini Silicon Valley, (minus a million people!), Sacramento is only about 40 minutes away and San Francisco is only a couple of hours. Close enough to the cities, but a world away.
